The country’s number one telecom company Reliance Jio can launch 5G very soon. Unlike rivals Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Bharti Airtel, the telco is largely silent about its 5G plans and trials. Akash Ambani, the newly appointed chairman of Reliance Jio, said, “We will celebrate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ with a pan-India 5G rollout. Jio is committed to providing world-class, affordable 5G and 5G-enabled services.”
When will Jio’s 5G service start? Mukesh Ambani’s son made a big disclosure
Jio has bought enough spectrum in this spectrum auction to launch 5G services widely. The telco has auctioned this spectrum for Rs. Rs 88,078 crore has been spent on such type of airwaves which no other telco has. Jio is the only operator which currently has 700 MHz airwaves. This will definitely give Jio a competitive edge.
Jio tops 5G spectrum auction
Akash Ambani’s words are very straightforward but what is interesting here is how Jio will implement it. There is currently no 5G network in India. So far all 5G networks have been done for testing purposes, for which spectrum was allotted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). If Jio is the first to bring 5G service, then obviously it can beat Airtel and Vi. Airtel and Vi have not said anything about launching 5G service. Let us tell you that other telecom companies can also prepare to launch commercial 5G by August 15, 2022.
Shares of Jio Platform Limited’s parent company Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) had a good day in the stock market on Monday. The group’s share rose 2.61% to Rs. Closed at 2574.85. The spectrum that Jio has bought will put it in a completely different league.
