Voting is going on today for the UP Legislative Council Election 2022. Voting is underway for 27 local bodies. 95 candidates are in the fray. There is a direct contest between BJP and Samajwadi Party in most of the seats. Out of 36 seats in the local body of the council, BJP has won 9 seats unopposed. Voting is going on in the remaining 27 seats today.
Voting continues for MLC elections amid tight security
Voting for the election of a member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Gonda began on Saturday amid tight security. Voting is being done at every center under the supervision of a magistrate. However, relatively less crowd was witnessed in the polling which started at 8 am. Voting ends at 4 pm. 4908 voters in both the districts will exercise their franchise to decide the share of the three contesting candidates. In this seat occupied by the Samajwadi Party, this time SP has fielded Dr. Balrampur in place of outgoing MLC Mahfooz Khan. Tripathi has been nominated by Bhanu Kumar. At the same time, the ruling BJP has declared former MLA Awadhesh Kumar Singh alias Manju Singh as its candidate. Gonda SP District President Anand Swarup and Pappu Yadav are also in the fray from this seat as independent candidates. Tight security arrangements have been made by the administration to ensure fair and peaceful elections. District Election Officer Dr. Ujjwal Kumar and SP Santosh Kumar Mishra visited the polling stations and took security measures. 287 people have also taken their allies for votes. Admission is being given only after verification of polling stations. Candidate supporters are also engaged in taking the voters home.
Voting underway for Faizabad-Ambedkarnagar MLC seat
Voting is going on at 21 polling stations in Ayodhya. 12 polling stations have been set up in Faizabad and 9 in Ambedkar Nagar. 4042 voters will decide the fate of 3 candidates. BJP’s outgoing MLC Hiralal Yadav and BJP’s independent candidate Narendra Dev Tiwari are in the fray. Voting will be held from 8 am to 4 pm. Police force is deployed along with magistrates at all polling stations.
Two voters cast their vote in Lalbagh Municipal Corporation
Members of Lalbagh Municipal Corporation have started arriving to cast their votes for the Legislative Council elections in Lucknow. In Bazar Shukul at 8.10 am, two voters cast their votes against a total of 136 votes.
