The Central Government has issued a notification in this regard on April 5. It said that this rule will be applicable on commercial vehicles from April 2023 and on private vehicles from June 2024.
From April 1, 2023, the ATS will make fitness tests mandatory for heavy commercial vehicles and heavy passenger vehicles, while for medium-sized commercial transport vehicles or medium passenger commercial vehicles and light motor vehicles, officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said. . , (private vehicle). Other states will have to set up I&C centers on the basis of this model. Health tests, certificates and special stickers for two wheelers, three wheelers, four wheelers, private and commercial vehicles will be made available at the I&C centres. There will also be facility for air pollution check.
The employees of I&C centers will upload the vehicle number, vehicle owner name, address, mobile number etc. on the government website for taking the fitness test. The website of the state government will be linked to the centralized data center of the central government, from where complete vehicle information can be obtained in any part of the country. Inspection of vehicle body, chassis, wheels, tyres, braking system, steering, lights etc. will be done at the centers with the help of skilled personnel and modern machines.
