Authorities say that Mississippi runner Tori Bowie, who won gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, was found dead in her Florida home on Wednesday. She was said to be 32 years old.
The sad news came from USA Track & Field and her business that takes care of her. No one talked about what happened to her.
“We’ve lost a client, a dear friend, a daughter, and a sister,” Icon Management Inc. said in a statement. The great Tori…a shining model, a light of hope. We are heartbroken by this news, and we are thinking and praying for her family.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson said that on Tuesday afternoon, deputies in Orange County were asked to check on the well-being of a woman in her 30s who hadn’t been seen or heard from in several days.
After Frentorish “Tori” Bowie’s body was found in a Winter Garden home, the FBI said there were “no signs of foul play.” Joshua Stephany, who is in charge of medical examination in Orange County, says that the official cause and way of death have not yet been decided.
In Brazil, Bowie helped the great team of Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, and English Gardner win a gold medal in the 4100-meter relay. Bowie said that Bartoletta, Felix, and Gardner made it easy for her to do her job that night in Rio, even though she had to run the most important 100 meters of the race.

Bowie said, “I had the easiest job of all,” when asked what he did for the race. Once my friends gave me the stick, all I had to do was bring it to the goal line. Bowie was born in Sand Hill, Mississippi. At the 2016 Olympics, he won bronze medals in both the 100 and 200 meters.
The 2017 World Athletics Championships were held in London. Bowie won the 100-meter gold. In rural Mississippi, her grandma gave her a great upbringing, and she always gave her family there the credit for her success.
In a 2016 interview, she said, “Sand Hill doesn’t have any stoplights, not even one.” This is true. It’s all I’ve ever known; I’ve never known anything else. I’ll always be a country girl because of this.
