Kashmiri Pandits working under the Prime Minister’s relief package have warned that they will run away en masse if the government does not take them to a safe place within 24 hours. The warning was issued following protests at various places in Kulgam district following the killing of a female teacher by terrorists. One of the protesters said that they have collectively decided to flee the Valley if the government does not take strict action for their safety within 24 hours.
He further said that the targeting and killing of Kashmiri Pandits is still going on. Their community is also tired of appealing to the government that they can be saved only if they are shifted from here. His delegation also met the Lt Governor and talked about his security.
Kashmiri Pandits have been demanding temporary rehabilitation till the situation normalises in the Valley. The IGP of Kashmir has set a time limit of two to three years to rid the Valley of terrorism. In the meantime, Kashmiri Pandits want temporary resettlement.
The official said that some employees of the Kashmiri Pandit community had gathered at Lal Chowk to protest the killing. Another team of employees gathered in Sonavar area of the city. They also raised slogans against the Union Territory administration for failing to provide full protection to the employees of the Hindu community.
