After this the young man complained in consumer protection but consumer protection rejected all the arguments. The youth suffered a lot due to the number being blocked.
According to media reports, this case is from 2014. The incident happened with a youth named Nirmal Kumar from Gujarat. A message came from Vodafone. The company was asked to issue a new SIM card.
Notice sent to the company: Nirmal Kumar Mistry had sent a legal notice to the Vodafone company due to his number being switched off and asked to pay the damages. A telemarketing message was sent to this number.
Financial loss to Nirmal Kumar: Nirmal Kumar is a software developer and he suffered a loss of Rs 3.5 lakh when his number was blocked. But the company did not accept it.
Challenging the decision: After Nirmal Kumar filed an application in the High Court, the company returned the money to Nirmal Kumar at 5% interest and paid a fine of Rs 50,000.
