Sunrisers Hyderabad May Select Three Players During the Auction

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disappointing season in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, failing to make the playoffs despite having a five-match unbeaten streak at one point during the tournament. SRH finished the season in ninth place, with six wins in 14 games.

To make apologies, the Hyderabad team management made some drastic decisions, releasing a total of 12 players from their squad, including Kane Williamson and Nicholas Pooran. Because of the big releases, SRH now has a whopping INR 42.25 crore remaining in their bank account, allowing them to sign some top-tier players at the IPL 2023 auction.

Here Are Three Players Srh Could Select in the IPL 2023 Auction:

  • Mayank Agarwal

Williamson had a hard time getting off to a good start for SRH in the 15th edition of the lucrative T20 tournament. He only scored 216 runs in 13 games, which is a poor strike rate of 93.51. The veteran batter didn’t do very well, so Sunrisers Hyderabad kicked him off the team. Before the auction, the Hyderabad team also got rid of Pooran and Priyam Garg.

Mayank Agarwal

After letting go of the batting trio, SRH would need a good opener to play with Abhishek Sharma, and the team could consider Mayank Agarwal for the job. The 31-year-old has scored a lot of runs in the IPL. In 113 games, he has scored 2,327 runs at a strike rate of 134.28.

The Indian batter is someone who can keep the game going and let the other players play freely around him. Also, Mayank knows all the moves in the book and can handle the best attacks head-on.

In addition to being a good batsman, the Bangalore native has a lot of experience leading a team in the shortest format. So, SRH can think of him as their next gun opener and as a possible captain in the future. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Hyderabad goes all out at the next auction to get the Indian batter.

  • Sam Curran

Sunrisers Hyderabad paid a whopping INR 7.75 crore for Romario Shepherd in the 2022 mega auction. Though the 28-year-old performed admirably with the bat, scoring 58 runs in three games at a strike rate of 141.46, he failed to establish his rhythm with the ball, allowing runs at an alarming rate of 10.89.

Sam Curran

SRH were unwilling to pay a high price for the West Indies all-rounder for the 2023 season, therefore they parted ways with him. With Shepherd out, the Hyderabad franchise may seek to add a gun all-rounder to its lineup and may go hammer and tongs for Sam Curran.

Curran has won games with both bat and ball and has established his worth on the T20 circuit. The 24-year-old has 149 wickets in 145 games with an economy rate of 8.43 and 1731 runs with a strike rate of 135.65.

  • Murugan Ashwin

Sunrisers Hyderabad has opted not to re-sign Shreyas Gopal and Jagadeesha Suchith for the upcoming season. As a result, they only have one quality spinner in their bowling lineup, Washington Sundar. As a result, SRH is expected to look for spin-bowling options in the upcoming auction, and Murugan Ashwin might be one of them.

Murugan Ashwin

Ashwin has a track record of success on the T20 circuit. The 32-year-old has played 96 games in the shortest format, taking 94 wickets at an economy rate of 7.28. He also did well in the IPL, taking 35 wickets in 42 matches with an economy rate of 7.87.

The Chennai native is a cunning client who can fool batters with his variations. Ashwin can also bowl in the powerplay, giving his skipper extra choices on the field. As a result, the Hyderabad franchise might raise its paddle at the auction to secure the leg-spinner.
