A shocking incident has happened in Patnagarh area of Bolangir district of Odisha. As a punishment, a teacher made a total of seven students of a government school unconscious. According to media reports, the incident took place at Bapuji High School and the girls were taken to a nearby hospital. After first aid at the health centre, the girl’s condition became stable.
Such punishment was given for being late for school
A teacher named Bikash Dharua allegedly asked the students to do 100 sit-ups for being late to school after the prayer session was over. Forcibly 100 sat on a dharna, some students fell unconscious and were taken to Patna sub-divisional hospital in an ambulance by the school authorities.

As soon as the information was received, the Education Minister has ordered an inquiry.
According to media reports, Patna’s Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Pitabash Shah said, “The condition of the girls was not good when they were brought to the hospital, but their condition is stable after first aid.” As soon as the incident was reported, the Minister of School and Mass Education. Sameer Ranjan Das has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Patnagarh Community Education Officer Shankar Prasad Manjhi has been instructed to investigate.
