Priyanka Chopra shared her experience, saying, “I remember when I first started in movies, I was considered dusky, written as the dusky actress, and I was like, ‘What is dusky?'” What does it imply? ‘. Nonetheless, I did a commercial because you are launching a beauty brand. A beauty brand can make or break an actress’ career. And all of the cosmetic companies were selling those creams,” referring to fairness creams.
Priyanka Chopra commented on the impact of such advertisements, saying, “The commercial was so damaging.” I’m a darker-skinned girl, and this guy walks in while I’m selling flowers, and he doesn’t even look at me. I start using this cream, and I get a job, and I get the guy, and all of my dreams come true, and it was the mid-2000s.”
Priyanka Chopra explained that when she first started working in movies, actresses with lighter skin tones had an advantage. “When I first started in the movie business, if you were fair, you were guaranteed some form of success or casting, but if you were darker, and I’m not even that dark, it was ‘let’s lighten you up,'” she explained. She recalled an incident in which she was required to play a woman with “fair as milk” skin. “I was lightened up in a lot of movies.” After applying makeup, the lighting is blasted. There was a song that I remember. “It was called Chitti Dudh Kudi, which means a girl as white as milk, and I ain’t that, but I was playing her, and I was really lightened up in the movie,” she said of the song from the film Kismat, in which she co-starred with Bobby Deol.
