Prime Minister Narendra Modi will talk to the jawans involved in the rescue operation during the Deoghar ropeway tragedy at 8 pm on Wednesday. The Prime Minister will address the personnel of the Indian Air Force, Indian Army, NDRF, ITBP, as well as members of the local administration and civil society involved in the rescue operation. The incident happened on the day of Ram Navami on Sunday. On the day of Ramnavami, the rope of Trikoot Parvat rope-way came down from the hook, causing the rope-way trolleys to fall down. The following two trolleys collided with a cliff, in which a woman lost her life.
Amidst the shouting, the operation to evacuate the tourists has been started. The army ordered a rescue operation. The local administration, ITBP, Air Force and NDRF teams rescued the people after 48 hours of rescue operation. The Air Force played a key role in the entire operation, evacuating 35 passengers from 10 cable cars.
Two people died during the rescue operation. During airlifting on Monday, a man died before the helicopter could reach, while on Tuesday, a woman died after falling on a mountain during the rescue operation. A total of 33 people were rescued in the joint operation conducted by Army, Air Force, ITBP, NDRF.
Taking cognizance of the Deoghar ropeway accident, the Jharkhand High Court has ordered an inquiry into the matter. The matter will be heard in the court on April 26, in which the Jharkhand government will have to present a detailed report of the accident in the court. After which the court will take further action.
