Miami Mayor Francis Suarez Declares Bid for Presidency, Intensifying GOP Primary Contest

0

On Wednesday, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez (R) officially declared his candidacy for the presidency, making him the latest contender to enter the crowded Republican primary field, which is still heavily influenced by former President Trump.

Suarez had been teasing his campaign announcement for several weeks, building anticipation among his supporters.

A super PAC supportive of Suarez, named SOS America, released a video earlier this week highlighting his accomplishments as the mayor of Miami.

Among the growing list of Republican primary candidates, Suarez is the third resident of Florida to join the race, alongside Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has consistently held second place in most polls.

Suarez’s entry into the GOP field holds significance as he becomes the first Hispanic candidate in this election cycle, representing a crucial constituency for the party.

However, he faces an uphill battle in securing the nomination due to the current state of the polls and his relatively low national recognition.
