Three Mewati thugs have been arrested for robbing ATMs in different parts of Delhi. A pistol, a single shot pistol and live ammunition have been recovered from them. The accused broke into an ATM filled with Rs 34 lakh in Badarpur on the night of 31 March. The gang used to carry out the crime in a stolen vehicle so that the police could not get any clue.
According to DCP Jasmeet Singh, on the night of March 31, some miscreants snatched the ATM of SBI from Badarpur area. In which Rs 34 lakh was kept in cash. After scanning the CCTV footage, the police team found a Bolero car near the ATM booth. The names of some miscreants of Mewat have come to the fore behind this incident of ATM breaking. Information about him was being collected from Mewat. Recently, the Special Cell was informed that two gang members Imran and Salman would come in a Creta car near Children Park in Lado Sarai.
On this information, the team of Inspector Ishwar Singh and Shiv Kumar laid a trap there. The police team asked both of them to surrender. Meanwhile, Imra also fired at the police team to escape, but the police team managed to catch him instead of saving him. A semi-automatic pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Imran. At the same time, a single shot pistol and two live cartridges have been found from Salman. An empty shell of bullet fired from the spot was also found. The Creta car with him was bought with the money of the robbery. A case was registered in the Special Cell regarding the incident. After getting information from the accused, the police team also arrested Shakeel on April 6. A pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from him. During interrogation, the accused told the police that Imran was the leader of their gang. He reached Delhi on the night of 31 March with Rahul, Shakeel, Salman and Tayyab. He was having breakfast to rob the ATM. He had taken the stolen Bolero car with him. He stole the car on March 21 near a hotel in Sunlight Colony. He robbed the SBI ATM and kept it in Bolero and left. They divided the money among themselves. Imran got Rs 14.5 lakh in the incident. He bought the car for Rs 8 lakh. He told the police that he had also tried to rob an ATM in west Delhi in March, but was unsuccessful. He has earlier robbed several ATMs in Delhi and Haryana. He has been charged with 20 counts of attempt to murder, ATM theft etc. According to DCP Jasmeet Singh, 20 members of various Mewati gangs who robbed ATMs were arrested by the Special Cell team last year. With his arrest, the Special Cell solved more than 30 such incidents. Once again the team of Special Cell is working hard against such gangs.
