Kane Williamson’s Great Response to the Question “Will You Be Picked in the IPL Auction?” Before of India’s ODIs
Williamson will participate in the mini-auction that will be held next month. Even though his popularity as a T20 cricketer is going down, it will be interesting to see who bets on the veteran campaigner. Williamson gave a great answer when he was asked about his chances at the IPL 2023 auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad let go of some big names on the last day of IPL retentions. Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, was one of them. Williamson was kept as the first choice before last year’s mega auction. He was the captain of SRH in IPL 2022, but they came in eighth out of 10 teams.
Williamson was with SRH for eight long years, and he was also their captain at different times. The stylish right-hander has scored the third-most runs in the series, after David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan. Williamson got 2101 runs in 76 games, which is an average of 36 runs per game.
Williamson will participate in the mini-auction next month. At a time when his standing as a T20 cricketer is dwindling, it will be interesting to watch who backs the seasoned campaigner. When asked about his chances at the auction ahead of the IPL 2023, Williamson responded brilliantly.
“Regarding the auction. I guess I’ll have to wait and see. It is not at all up to me. People make decisions regarding their team and their goals. That is the essence of how it operates “On the eve of the first ODI against India in Auckland, Williamson informed reporters.
Williamson, like India’s famous three of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, has been chastised for failing to meet the ever-increasing demands of striking big from the start. He was New Zealand’s leading run-scorer in the T20I series against India, but his strike rate was a serious worry.
“I still love all three ways to play. I like going back and forth between the three. As a player, I always want to keep getting better. I’m still driven by that. The other night, it was a little frustrating. Sometimes that’s how things go. I’m still looking for places where I can make a difference “he said.
After losing in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, both India and New Zealand will start getting ready for the ODI World Cup in India next year. Williamson’s main goal right now is to beat India in the series.
The 32-year-old said, “After a lot of T20 cricket and the World Cup, the attention naturally shifts to the next one, which is the (global) ODI tournament.”
“I’m hesitant to call it preparation because it’s very much focused on the upcoming series and the cricket we want to play.” “So we’re concentrating on what’s in front of us, but there’s a lot more one-day cricket coming up.”
