India became the first choice instead of China

According to a report, more than 90 percent of Apple’s products are made in China, but China’s zero Kovid policy is hindering Apple’s production. Due to which the supply is getting interrupted. In such a situation, now the company is preparing to leave China and increase production in India. India is Apple’s first choice outside China. The iPhone 11, 12 and 13 are currently manufactured in India. All these iPhones are made in the factory of Taiwanese company Foxconn in Chennai.

Currently, Apple sells phones worth about $1.5 billion in India, of which less than $0.5 billion is manufactured locally. The market share in the country is 2-3. At the same time, in 2018-19, the company produced goods worth $ 220 billion in China, of which $185 billion was exported.

Growing production in the country

India produced 3.1 percent of Apple’s iPhones last year. This year this figure can go up to 6 to 7 percent. The company sold 1.2 million iPhones in the country in the second quarter with a growth of 94 percent. In the first quarter of 2022, Apple launched nearly one million Make-in-India iPhones. The best selling of these are the iPhone 12 and 13 models.

In March, the government launched three schemes with an incentive of Rs 48,000 crore. In the Production Linked PLI Scheme, large companies have Rs. 41,000 crore, which is likely to be achieved in three years.
