Pakistan’s newly elected PM Shahbaz Sharif’s troubles are not over. Now the Shahbaz Sharif administration of Imran Khan’s party has lost control of many digital assets, including the official Twitter handle of the PM’s office.
Imran Khan’s party did not agree
The Shahbaz Sharif government has created a new Twitter page with the username @pmo_pk without searching the official Twitter page of the Prime Minister’s Office. According to Pakistani media reports, Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has refused to give digital assets. It is important to know here that government digital assets are owned by the Government of Pakistan.
PM’s Twitter page has been renamed
According to reports, the work of the previous official Twitter account of Pakistan’s PM Office @pakpmo was overseen by Imran Ghazali of the Digital Media Wing of the Union Information Ministry. This account currently has 35 million followers.
After the removal of the Imran government, the account is archived and renamed by the Prime Minister’s Office (August 2018-April 2022). The media accounts are the property of the country and are linked to the ‘.gov email’. He said the accounts would comply with the US Archiving Format policy.
