Many types of pulao are very famous like paneer pulao, jeera pulao, dry fruits pulao, shahi pulao. Today we are going to share with you the recipe of one such famous type of pulao, Watana Pulao.

Pulao is a very tasty dish and it adds a lot of flavor to your meal. You can eat this recipe anytime for lunch or dinner. If you are in the mood for something lighter at night, Matar Pulau can be a great option.

Ingredients for peas pulao recipe

Rice – 1/2 cup
Tomatoes – 2
Potatoes – 2
Onion- 2-3
Green chillies- 2-3
Ginger-garlic paste – 2 tbsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
Biryani masala- 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
Big Cardamom – 2
Small cardamom – 2
Asafoetida- 1 pinch
Cinnamon – 2 pieces
Chopped green coriander – 2 tbsp
Lemon – 1/2
Bay leaves – 2
Oil – 2 tbsp
Salt – as per taste

How to make peas pulao recipe

To make Matar Pulao, first wash the rice with water and soak the rice in water for some time. Now cut onion, tomato, green pepper and potato into pieces. Then heat oil in a cooker on medium heat. When the oil is hot, fry it with cumin and asafoetida. When cumin starts to splutter, add finely chopped onions, green chillies, potatoes and beans and stir with a pestle.

Next, add other dry spices including red chili powder, turmeric powder to this mixture and mix it well with a pestle. After frying for two to three minutes, when the onion and tomato become soft, put the soaked rice in the cooker and cook it by stirring it for a while. Then cover the cooker with water as required and cook for 10 minutes. Cover the cooker for 2-3 whistles if you like.

After the prescribed time, switch off the gas flame and open the lid to see if the pulao is completely ready. If the rice is not fully cooked, let it cook for a while longer. If your cooker whistles, automatically release the cooker pressure, then open the lid. Your delicious matar pulao is ready. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with green coriander and add lemon juice.
