Ingredients for making Chana Dal –
1 big bowl chickpeas
Onion
2 green chilies
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp turmeric
1 bay leaf
a pinch asafoetida
1 tbsp coriander powder
tomato
Garam Masala
green coriander
salt to taste

To make lentils, boil the lentils on medium heat. Add salt and red pepper. After boiling the chickpeas take them out. Now prepare to tamper with it. A pinch of asafoetida has to be put in the pan, now put cumin seeds. Then fry the finely chopped onions till golden. Now add finely chopped tomatoes. Add turmeric, garam masala, coriander. Cook it well. After the masala boils, turn the dal in it. Now let the spices mix in it. After this cook the dal for 5 minutes. When the lentils are cooked, add finely chopped green coriander and serve it with desi ghee. Your dal is ready. You can serve it with roti or rice. If you want, you can make the chickpeas a little thinner and drink it like a soup.
