Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced to withdraw the ‘VIP’ registration numbers for his convoys of four wheelers. so that they can be made available to the general public.

According to an official statement, the announcement was made by the chief minister during a cabinet meeting to discuss amendments to the Haryana Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993. He said that from today all the ‘VIP’ registration numbers of vehicles would be available to the general public and allotment of such numbers would be done through e-auction.
There are 179 trains
Post the announcement, the general public who wish to purchase attractive numbers for their vehicles will be able to purchase ‘VIP’ numbers currently allotted to 179 vehicles of the state government, the statement said.
Estimated income of Rs 18 crore
According to the statement, the income from this e-auction is estimated to be Rs 18 crore. The Cabinet also approved the Haryana Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules-2022 to set up a registration number system for non-transport vehicles through e-auction.
