Meta-owner Facebook’s dark mode interface for the iOS platform is missing for many users. According to 9to5Mac, the dark mode option in Facebook for iOS has disappeared without any explanation. While it is likely to be a bug, the tech giant has not acknowledged the problem or provided a timeline to fix it.
Facebook users have taken to other social media platforms like microblogging site Twitter to complain about the sudden disappearance of dark mode support. These include Facebook’s support for a system-wide dark mode toggle in iOS, as well as an in-app dark mode toggle that was available in the “Settings” menu of the Facebook app.
The report also states that there is no option to manually enable dark mode directly in the Facebook app. It’s not a huge bug, but it can cause an intrusive visual inconsistency, especially when system-wide dark mode is enabled on your iPhone or iPad. System-wide dark mode support came to iOS in 2019 as part of the release of iOS 13.
Apple introduced the first dark mode on its iPhone and iPad in 2019 with the iOS 13 rollout. A year later in 2020, Meta rolled out support for the feature on Facebook’s web-based platform and its Android and iOS-based apps.
