New Delhi | The apex court on Wednesday refused to hear an application challenging the Telangana High Court’s order to quash the interim stay imposed by the trial court on the performance and broadcast of the reality show ‘Lock Up’. Justice MR Shah and Justice B.V. Citizen; The petitioner asked Pride Media to go to the trial court for an immediate hearing on the petition relating to the interim stay. The bench said, “The petitioner may approach the lower court for early disposal of the petition.
The application was then withdrawn. Senior Advocate CS Vaidyanathan represented the petitioner in the Supreme Court. Pride Media had filed an application in the Supreme Court against the February 26 order of the High Court. The High Court had on February 23 quashed the interim stay order issued by the trial court on the screening and telecast of the series.
Pride Media argued that it came up with the story of ‘The Jail’ and scripted it with 22 celebrities in mind. The company said that the reality show was to be held for 100 days and that it had also registered a story with the Screen Writers Association. Pride Media said, however, that the show could not take place due to lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions and that they had come to a reality show called ‘Lock Up’ as long as they were ready to produce the show.
The High Court said that ALT Balaji had made the show and spent a lot of money on its marketing, so the case was in his favor. The High Court said, “According to the arguments, the concept of ‘The Jail’ was registered in 2018, but it could not be constructed due to Covid-19 and lockdown.
However, the reality show ‘Lock Up’ team created the show and spent a lot of money marketing it in February 2022. The team plans to have a live telecast of the show on February 27 and in that sense the order goes in their favor. ” There is a copy of ‘Jail’, so it cannot be said that the rights of the show are harmed to the applicants. ” Lock Up ‘is being hosted by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and is being telecast on MX Player and ALT Balaji.
