Mumbai The rupee had gained 14 paise to 75.79 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday amid falling crude oil prices. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 75.94 against the US dollar and then returned to 75.79, an increase of 14 paise over the previous close.

The rupee had gained 10 paise to close at 75.93 against the US dollar on Friday. Meanwhile, the dollar index, reflecting the position of the US dollar against six major currencies, rose 0.13 percent to 99.92. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures fell 2.33 percent to $ 100.39 a barrel. (Agency)
