Do you often sleep while traveling by metro, bus or train? If yes, then you need to be careful. Sleeping several times a day can be a sign of health problems. By now you’ve probably heard that taking a power nap during the day is beneficial, but it’s not common to do it multiple times a day. Doing so indicates the risk of serious illnesses such as high blood pressure or stroke. A recent study has revealed some surprising facts about this, which may be important for you to know.
Do you sleep during the day? So you have to be careful
According to the report, a study on frequent sleep was conducted in China. Its researchers have found that frequent naps can increase the risk of high blood pressure (hypertension) and stroke. The study was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
The researchers included more than 5 lakh people in this study. It found that those who slept intermittently had a 7% increased risk of high blood pressure, a 12% increased risk of stroke, and a 9% increased risk of stroke due to blood clots (ischemic stroke), compared to those who did not sleep.
Studies have shown that people who nap frequently during the day have a 12% risk of high blood pressure, a 24% risk of stroke, and a 20% risk of stroke due to blood clots, compared to people who never nap. Studies show that frequent sleep is a potential risk factor for developing high blood pressure.

More research is needed to understand why sleep affects blood pressure or stroke. A similar study in 2017 found that daytime napping may be associated with a higher risk of high blood pressure. Experts believe that good sleep leads to good health.
