Chaim Topol’s Cause of Death
Although Topol’s official cause of death has not been revealed, statements from his family in recent years indicate that he died as a result of his Alzheimer’s disease battle. Topol’s son, Omer, reported to the Israeli news outlet Ynet in June 2022 that his father had Alzheimer’s disease. Omer then reported on March 8 that Topol was “living his final hours.”
On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid tribute to Topol and expressed his condolences, describing him as a “multi-faceted performer with great personality and energy.”
“The story of Haim Topol’s life has been sealed, but I am confident that his contribution to Israeli culture will carry on for centuries,” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said in a statement. “He adored the land of Israel, and the Israeli people adored him in return.
