Dharm News : According to the Hindi calendar, the month of Baisakh begins as soon as the month of Chaitra ends and the first day of the month of Baisakh holds a very special significance for the Bengali community. This day marks the beginning of the new year of the Bengali community. This year Bengali New Year is going to start from 15th April 2022 i.e. today.
What is Recognition?
There is also a tradition in the Bengali community to wake up early in the morning to see the rising sun. It is believed that doing this brings success throughout the year. At the same time, in many places, people eat rice with onions, green chillies and fried fish for breakfast on this day.
On the day of Poila Baishakh, clouds are worshipped for good rains throughout the year. Apart from this, Lord Ganesha and Mata Lakshmi are worshiped on this day for the prosperity and well being of the family.

People of Bengali community clean the houses on Poila Boishakh i.e. on the first day of the year and worship by wearing new clothes. Make good dishes and wish each other a happy new year.
Also, there is a tradition of visiting the temple on this day to see God and seek the blessings of elders. Apart from this, cow mother is also worshiped on the day of Poila Boishakh in many areas of Bengal. After bathing the cow mother in the morning, tilak is applied to her.
