People said it was unclear whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government would announce a policy or use informal channels to make Chinese companies their priority.

New Delhi has already placed Chinese companies operating in the country, such as Xiaomi, rivals Oppo and Vivo under scrutiny for their finances.
