Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has recently reacted to the clashes in several states during Ram Navami processions. He claimed that despite the large population in UP, there is no tension in the state. He said that during Ram Navami processions were taken out at various places in the state. But no untoward incident was reported.

He tweeted a video in this regard, in which he is saying, ‘The population of UP is 25 crores. A procession was taken out at 800 places for the Ram Navami procession. At the same time, the month of Ramadan is also going on. Where you were not me. The riots are far away. It shows a new way of thinking about the development of Uttar Pradesh. There is no place for riots here. There is no room for chaos, bullying and rumours.

This statement of Yogi Adityanath has come at a time when there were reports of violence against Ram Navami from states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal recently. Two people were killed and several others were injured in the violence. Fire and violence broke out after stone-pelting on a Ram Navami procession passing through a Muslim-majority part of the city in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone. The state BJP government has arrested 94 people and initiated action against those who allegedly pelted stones on the procession.
