5 years ago, Railways gave 2 rupees less, youth fought for refund and now IRCTC will give 2. 2.43 crores.

The Railways has fought a long battle for the refund of two rupees to a youth from Kota, Rajasthan. To get these two rupees for the youth, now IRCTC will have to pay 2.43 crore rupees. Three lakh people will benefit from this. According to the information received, Sujit Swami, a resident of Kota, had booked a ticket from Kota to New Delhi in Golden Temple Mail in April 2017 to travel.

Which was canceled and got less money as refund. After this Sujit started the movement through RTI to get the entire money back to the Railways. Let us tell you that instead of Rs 765 as refund, Rs 665 was returned by the Railways. According to Sujit, the Railways had deducted Rs 100 instead of Rs 65, out of which Rs 35 was taken more. After this, engineer and RTI activist Sujit started getting his 35 rupees back.

According to media reports, Sujit then applied for RTI and sought details of each passenger traveling in the train, from which Rs 35 was charged as GST. Sujit was told that about 2 lakh 98 thousand passengers have been levied a tax of Rs 35 per person. Sujit then filed over 50 RTIs for refund and wrote letters to the PMO and the Ministry of Railways.

On the other hand, after every effort of Sujit, Railways transferred Rs 33 to Sujit’s account in May 2019, but Sujit says that he wanted Rs 35 but railways sent Rs 2 less. Sujit then fights for Rs. Sujit once again started the movement to get everyone’s money back by filing RTI. Now it seems that every month RTI is being filed, so railways has now accepted to give refund.

Finally after several days and months of hard work and effort, the Finance and Secretary of the Ministry of Railways reached the Government of India, IRCTC, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and the GST Council. Meanwhile, Sujid used to tweet a lot every day to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister.

So now Sujit has been informed by the railway official that his refund has been approved and he has got it by 30th May which he will donate to PM Cares Fund. In such a situation, the Railways has started the process of refund of all other passengers.
